The Ultimate Afternoon Tea For Career Girls Who Need A Break

Busy Bee's

After a very busy week in work and university, I was delighted to be invited by The Vale Resort for Afternoon Tea on Sunday the 26th. My company for the day were my ultimate blogging babes Neesha, Lottie and Holly. Unfortunately, I had not seen them for ages since I've been so busy and therefore this was the perfect opportunity to catch up with how everyone's personal and professional lives were progressing.

Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea is a tea-related ritual, introduced in Britain in the early 1840s. It evolved as a mini meal to stem the hunger and anticipation of an evening meal at 8pm.
Afternoon Tea is a meal composed of sandwiches (usually cut delicately into 'fingers'), scones with clotted cream and jam, sweet pastries and cakes. Interestingly, scones were not a common feature of early Afternoon Tea and were only introduced in the twentieth century.
Afternoon Tea was initially developed as a private social event for ladies who climbed the echelons of society, and I like the sound of that.
These days, Afternoon Tea is usually enjoyed as an occasional indulgence or to celebrate a special event such as a birthday, or a pre-wedding or baby shower party with a group of friends. Find out more about the history of Afternoon Tea here.

The Vale Resort

On arrival at The Vale Resort, I was delighted with the location, out of the way of the hustle and bustle of Cardiff city centre but only 15 minutes away. It is surrounded by luscious green grass and trees which I explored on arrival.
The Afternoon Tea consisted of Welsh-themed finger sandwiches, homemade scones and welsh cakes and, sweet treat in the form of delicious jelly and of course, a nice hot pot of tea which I got to choose from an extensive range of Twinings speciality teas. For an even more indulgent treat why not add a glass of bubbly? It's just £4.50 per person.
We thoroughly enjoyed Afternoon Tea in the Conservatory and spent just under two hours chatting and nibbling. It was the perfect relaxation treat and if you ask me extremely well deserved. Take your girls, take your family or why not take your next client?

Afternoon Tea is served between 1:00 pm and 4:30 pm at £35 for two. That's just £17.50pp.

*The Vale Resort kindly invited me to review their afternoon tea, however, this has not influenced this review.
