Why the world is a better place when your nails are painted

Sometimes everything becomes a little bit too much, everything spirals out of control a little bit, you can't tell your clean laundry from your dirty laundry on the floor of your room, that skirt you really wanted to wear to work today is no where to be found, some of your favourite make up items have gone missing and you don't know if it's been borrowed by your sister or if it was left on the floor and the cat has been playing with it and swooped it under the chest of drawers. You can't remember the last time you washed your hair but you do remember the last time you shaved your legs and your pretty sure it was back in 2015, you feel like you have no time, but in reality you have plenty of time but there's not much you can do when you're lying awake at 3am.

Above is the harsh reality of my life right now, a busy whirlwind of work, boyfriend, social life and university. Luckily I had the opportunity a Sunday or two ago to try and put some of my life back in order, I tidied my bedroom, did my laundry, planned for the week ahead and did my best to sort out the little bits of my life that had got a bit lost, such as my social life.

I think back to a better time, when my nails were painted, why does it always seem the world is a better place when your nails are painted? Is it a psychological delusion that you might actually have your life together? Or is it that you've had time to do it and therefore time to relax? I don't know but what I do know is that tonight I'm going to take some time to paint my nails and enjoy a treat.

Here are some things to do if you feel like everything is a little bit all over the place...

1. Write yourself a to do list
2. Tidy up the room you spend the most time in
3. Do the dishes
4. Go for a short walk
